Kmart employee arrested for First Degree Theft of Property

Sherri Dozier, black female, 25 years of age, of South Lena Street was arrested and charged with First Degree Theft of Property with a $5,000 bond. 
 

On January 3, 2012 the Dothan Police Department made a felony theft arrest following a recent investigation. Police were contacted by security members of Kmart (2214 Ross Clark Circle) after an internal investigation revealed an employee had allowed people to come through her cashier’s line on numerous occasions and place items in bags that were not paid for. Investigators have now closed the case following the arrest of Kmart employee Sherri Dozier.

Auburn student dies after Sunday wreck

Elizabeth “Libbie” Ainsworth aspired to be an interior designer. Her online student portfolio contained sketches of comfortable living rooms, patios and kitchens for would-be home buyers.

Her passion for tasteful, modern home designs was startling.

But Ainsworth, a 20-year-old Auburn University sophomore from Coppell, Texas, passed away Tuesday at 3:50 p.m. CST in a Columbus, Ga., hospital, just two days after sustaining injuries in a single-car accident on U.S. Highway 280 in western Lee County, according to both a hospital spokesperson and Lee County Deputy Coroner Charlotte Patterson.

Ainsworth was a 2010 graduate of Coppell (Texas) High School and was pursuing a degree in interior design, with plans on graduating college in the summer of 2014.

Ainsworth, a member of the Phi Mu sorority, was traveling with boyfriend Drew Cole, a member of Auburn’s football team, early Sunday evening when their vehicle lost control. Ainsworth was ejected from the vehicle.

Cole, who was not seriously injured, was taken to East Alabama Medical Center and was treated and released. Ainsworth was airlifted to Columbus Regional Medical Center.

The official cause of death, according to Patterson, was traumatic brain injury.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to Libbie's family and friends,” said Ainsley Carry, Auburn University Vice President for Student Affairs. “This is a devastating loss to the Auburn family. Libbie was an active member of our Greek community and outstanding student. Every student means and adds so much to our community that it hurts when we lose even one. We are heartbroken and saddened by this tragedy. Libbie will certainly never be forgotten.”

FOOD DEPOT ROBBERY CALL CRIME$TOPPER 7937000

On December 30, 2011 the Dothan Police Department responded to an armed robbery in progress just after 7:00 p.m. at Food Depot (1357 Fortner Street). Employees told police the suspect entered the business and walked around the store for awhile before he finally approached the manager and handed him a note demanding cash. The manager walked outside with the suspect following closely behind him, once outside, the manager quickly re-entered the business and locked the door. The suspect, realizing he had been locked out, fled on foot on Fortner Street. The suspect was described as a white male, approximately 6’2 to 6’3 tall weighing 250 pounds with a mustache and stubbly beard. The manager also stated the suspect was wearing a distinct multi-colored jacket that was blue, red and white similar in style to those seen in the Mexican culture. Dothan Police Department responded to an armed robbery at Discount Tobacco Outlet (4143 West Main Street)

On December 30, 2011 the Dothan Police Department responded to an armed robbery at Discount Tobacco Outlet (4143 West Main Street) shortly after 7:00 p.m. Upon arrival, police learned the suspect followed an employee into the store when he was bringing in a sign he had out front.  The store was closed at the time.  The suspect had a silver semi- automatic pistol and was wearing a blue bandana around his face.  He pointed the gun at the victim and demanded money which he received. The suspect then told the victim to go to the back of the store after which he fled through the front door. The suspect was described as a black male, approximately 6’0 tall weighing 150 pounds. W.Newton Street woman shot by boyfriend

On December 30, 2011 the Dothan Police Department responded to a firearm assault on the 1100 block of West Newton Street just after 9:30 p.m. Upon arrival, police found an adult female suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was able to tell police she and her boyfriend were outside of their apartment when they heard noise coming from the back of the complex. She stated her boyfriend walked toward the back and saw a black male armed with a handgun wearing dark clothing and a mask. The victim said her boyfriend began running down Newton Street and she too ran. The victim said she made it into her apartment and once inside the suspect shot at her front door. A bullet passed through the door striking her in the chest. The victim was taken to a local hospital where she was listed in stable condition and scheduled for surgery to remove the bullet from her chest. Dothan Police Officer violently assaulted

Roderiquez Rambeau, black male, 26 years of age, of Mona Drive was arrested and charged with Second Degree Assault with a $15,000 bond. 
 

On December 31, 2011 the Dothan Police Department responded to a fight at a residence in the 1000 block of Eugene Street. While at the residence, officers attempted to make an arrest of one subject on scene. During this time, Roderiquez Rambeau violently assaulted a Dothan Police Officer. The officer was taken to a local hospital where he received treatment for injuries. The suspect was taken into custody and charged with Second Degree Assault.
