The two people accused of killing and robbing a Valley woman in her home in 2010 have been indicted by a Chambers County grand jury on charges of robbery and capital murder.
John Bradley Limes, 36, and Leslie Lea King, 35, are accused of robbing and killing 59-year-old Kathlene Lucile Landino in her home last November.
Landino was found dead in her home Nov. 23, 2010, by her son. Authorities say she had suffered head trauma.
In court documents, prosecutors allege that Limes and King attempted to steal a purse, laptop, cellphone, 12-gauge shotgun, security box and several DVDs belonging to Landino.
Both Limes and King were arrested Nov. 24 in a Pizza Hut parking lot in Phenix City following Landino’s murder, Valley Police Department Sgt. Wayne Hattaway said previously. Officers recovered Landino’s cellphone in Limes’ pocket.
According to the indictment, the grand jury found that Limes and King “did intentionally cause the death of Kathlene Landino, by beating and/or striking her in the head with a shotgun or firearm-like object …”
The indictment also alleges King and Limes were in the process of attempting to rob Landino at the time of her death.
Limes and King were armed at the time of the incident, according to the indictment.
Limes is being held in the Randolph County Jail, King in the Chambers County Jail.
King is the estranged wife of Landino’s son.
