McKinney won't run again for Alabama school board

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP)
The vice president of the Alabama Board of Education, Republican Randy McKinney of Orange Beach, says he won't seek re-election and he won't run for another office next year.
McKinney has served on the state school board since 2003. He told the Decatur Daily that he doesn't like the partisanship and bickering in politics now, and he's an advocate of term limits. McKinney says he will focus on his real estate business.
The Press-Register reports that two Republicans have expressed interest in running for McKinney's seat. Jessica James has already announced her candidacy. She's a contractor in the Workforce Development Department at Bishop State Community College in Mobile. A member of the Baldwin County School Board, Tracy Roberts of Daphne, says she expects to make a formal announcement this month.
