The Alabama Bureau of Investigation is reviewing the case of a man who authorities said was shot by an officer on Monday during a drug investigation.
According to Ozark Police Chief Tony Spivey, a man was shot during a drug investigation by the Wiregrass Violent Crimes and Drug Task Force at a fuel station on U.S. Highway 231 in Midland City around 6 p.m. Monday. The suspect fled after the shooting and was arrested in Midtown Apartments in the town, Spivey said.
Authorities said the suspect was taken to a Dothan hospital and was undergoing x-rays around 7 p.m. on Monday. Neither the extent of the suspect’s injuries or the injuries of the officers involved – if any – was clear Monday night.
Nor were the names of the suspect or officers released at press time.
Spivey said he called ABI to investigate the incident because it involved an officer.
