NUTLEY, New Jersey
The beagle mix that survived an Alabama dog pound's gas chamber has found a permanent home in New Jersey.
Northern New Jersey resident Joe Dwyer says his family received the dog last Thursday from Eleventh Hour Rescue, the organization that took possession of the canine last month.
The rescue group arranged for the dog to be flown to New Jersey after he emerged with his tail wagging from the gas chamber at the animal control facility in Florence, Al. on Oct. 3.
Volunteers named the dog "Daniel" after the biblical figure who survived the lion's den.
Dwyer says the dog received a clean bill of health after a visit to the vet on Wednesday and has become fast friends with the Nutley family's other four pooches.
