Man, released after being charged with shooting 4 at party, wanted on new robbery charge

MOBILE, Al.
 A 20-year-old man who made bail after being charged with shooting 4 people in October is wanted on a new felony charge, Mobile police said.

An active warrant charging Jermaine Dewion Davis of Mobile with 1st-degree robbery was signed Monday, police spokesman Cpl. Christopher Levy said.
The warrant charges Davis with being 1 of 2 men who robbed a victim at gunpoint in the 1400 block of McArthur Street Sunday.
A similar 1st-degree robbery warrant against 20-year-old David Henley III was signed Monday, Levy said.
Davis was arrested Oct. 25 and charged with 4 counts of second-degree assault after police said 3 men and a woman were shot at what was described as an “unofficial block party” at Ann and Arlington streets on the night of Oct. 22.
Three victims were shot in the leg, and the other was shot in the shoulder, according to Press-Register archives. None of the victims suffered life-threatening injuries.
Davis was released on bail totaling $12,000 about 6 hours after being booked, according to records at Mobile County Metro Jail.
Levy said the bail amount, $3,000 for each victim, is one of Mobile County’s pre-set bail amounts for various offenses, meaning that Davis was able to leave jail without appearing before a judge.
Rhoda Dickerson, a spokeswoman for Bondmax, the company that posted Davis’ Oct. 25 bail bond, said that co-signers on Davis’ behalf paid 10 percent of the bail, or $1,200, to get him released from jail.
Dickerson said that some bail bonding companies charge a lower percentage to obtain a release, “but that is not our practice.”
She said that, in case Davis’ bail is revoked after his next arrest or forfeited due to failure to appear in court, the co-signers would still be responsible for the $1,200.
A preliminary hearing on the 4 2nd-degree assault charges, as well as a 1st-degree assault charge elevated to adult status from an incident when Davis was 16, will be Dec. 1 before District Judge Bob Sherling, according to online court records.
Jail records show that Davis was also arrested in August on a misdemeanor charge of loitering for the purpose of drug activity.
Davis, during his last arrest, gave an address on Brook Avenue in Mobile, according to jail records.
