Meth lab bust leads to two arrests in north Mobile County

MOBILE, Al.
Mobile County Sheriff’s deputies acting on a tip took down a working meth lab this morning on Coy Smith Highway between Citronelle and Mount Vernon, a spokesman for the sheriff said.
The deputies arrested Charles Sullivan, 50, and Marie Karen Burton, 41, in connection with the lab. Both were charged with trafficking methamphetamine and manufacturing a controlled substance.
Deputies arrived at the residence early this morning after receiving a report of a meth lab, said Sgt. Joe Mahoney. When they arrived, the deputies saw component parts of a meth lab outside the residence in plain sight, he said.
After securing a search warrant, the deputies found a working meth lab in the residence, Mahoney said.

Mahoney said he wasn’t sure how much of the drug deputies seized. Under Alabama law, a person can be charged with trafficking methamphetamine if he is found with more than 28 grams.
In addition to Sullivan and Burton, two others were arrested on outstanding warrants, Mahoney said. Their names and charges were not available Sunday afternoon.
Sullivan and Burton were being held without bail this evening.
