One person killed and two taken to hospital after colliding with firetruck

DOTHAN, Al.
One person is dead and a child was moderately injured after a car and firetruck collided in Dothan. Floretha Bryant, 41, of Dothan, died in an 11:51 a.m. collision with a Dothan Fire Department brush truck, police said.

A child in the vehicle and the truck's driver suffered moderate but not life-threatening injuries and were taken for treatment.

Dothan PD's press release stated :

The Dothan Police Department Traffic Division responded to a fatal collision involving a passenger vehicle and Dothan Fire Department Brush Truck at 11:51 a.m. today. The crash occurred at the intersection of Columbia Highway at Sixth Avenue and claimed the life of 41 year old Floretha Bryant of Dothan, Alabama. The preliminary investigation revealed the passenger car, a Nissan Sentra, was traveling north on Sixth Avenue making a left turn onto Columbia Highway and failed to yield right of way to an oncoming brush truck traveling east on Columbia Highway. When the passenger vehicle pulled into the path of the truck, a t-bone collision resulted. The driver of the passenger vehicle was pronounced dead on the scene. A small child riding in the passenger car and the driver of the brush truck were transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the crash. Those injuries are believed to be moderate and not life threatening at this time. The Dothan Police Department would like to extend our thoughts to the Bryant family during their time of loss.
