An Opelika man fled from a Lee County courtroom around noon today.
Lee County sheriff's deputies are looking for 24-year-old Robert Patrick Williams, who was sentenced to jail in a district court for writing bad checks. Williams is described as 6-foot-tall white male with medium-length blond hair, weighing 140 pounds and wearing a brown striped shirt and jeans.
He was seen heading west across Gateway Drive toward the Hamilton Place community.
Police say he is not a threat to the public.
Anyone with information on Williams' whereabouts is asked to contact the Lee County Sheriff's Office or Opelika Police Department.
