A harrassment charge has been dismisssed against a Fairfield city councilman accused of inappropriately touching a female minor relative earlier this year.
Court records show the case against District 2 Councilman Primus Mack, 56, will not be pursued by the prosecution. Mack was to stand trial today in District Court in Bessemer.Mack turned himself in to the Jefferson County Jail on a misdemeanor charge of harrassment on Sept. 13 after a female juvenile relative accused him of groping and kissing her at his home on Valley Road on June 5.
Mack runs a day care, Ivory's Day Care, from the same location, and is the pastor at Saint Mark Baptist Church in Birmingham's Wylam community.
"I'm just glad it's over," Mack said today. "I'm praying for everyone involved and I want to thank everyone who prayed for me. I'm just relieved that the truth came out and I'm looking forward to a bright future for Fairfield."
