University of Alabama student stabbed in dining hall fight with second student

TUSCALOOSA, Al.
A 19-year-old female University of Alabama student was stabbed overnight at a campus dining hall during an altercation with another female student.
The incident happened about midnight at the Lakeside Diner on McCorvey Drive.
The victim was stabbed multiple times and taken by ambulance to DCH Regional Medical Center. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, said Lloyd Baker, commander of the Tuscaloosa Metro Homicide Unit.
The suspect, an 18-year-old female, also a student, was taken to DCH with injuries to her head.
Authorities have not released the names of either student.
Baker said the suspect told authorities that the victim and her friends have been after her for the past several weeks and that she didn't feel safe. She said she went to the bathroom and noticed the victim and her friends followed her.
The suspect told police the victim started the fight, and she used a knife to get her off of her.
"Due to the self-defense issue, this case will need further investigation to determine if charges will be brought," Baker said. "No arrest have been made at this time."
