Copper Thief caught

On January 23, 2012, 31 year old Rodney Derrick Phillips was arrested and charged with the offense of Burglary 3rd Degree. Phillips was observed burglarizing the residence at 2111 9th Avenue, after crawling underneath the residence to remove the copper pipe and wiring. Mr. Phillips was apprehended by Phenix City Police Units, after being pursued on foot through the 2000 and 2100 block of 9th Avenue. After apprehension, Phillips led investigators to 6 other thefts and burglaries he committed within the past months. Further investigation and charges are pending.
