Athens police arrest man for copper thefts

Athens police arrested a man in connection with theft of copper from a home under construction.

In a media release, police said Kenneth Dewayne Emerson was arrested Monday afternoon and charged with burglary.
Officers were called to a construction site on Maree Drive Sunday after a witness saw a man taking copper from a home under construction.
When officers arrived the suspect fled. But based on the witnesses' description, an investigator recognized the suspect as Emerson, the release said.
Emerson was arrested Monday afternoon and book at the city jail before being transferred to the Limestone County Jail.
