ANNISTON, Al.

Reports state  that 25-year-old Joshua Eugene Russell is scheduled to appear at 9 a.m. Monday in Calhoun County District Court for a preliminary hearing in the case. Authorities say he shot and killed Officer Justin Sollohub Aug. 24 as the policeman chased Russell on foot.
Russell is charged with capital murder. He was arrested hours after the shooting following a police manhunt.
Since then, Russell has been held in the Etowah County Jail on a on a $300,000 cash bond.
The hearing will determine if there is enough evidence for the case to move forward. Russell's court-appointed attorney John C. Robbins did not return requests for comment.
