HUNTSVILLE, Al.
A North Huntsville man shot and killed his brother Sunday afternoon in the city's second homicide of the weekend.
Bobby Joe Pamplin, 64, is charged with murder in the death of 53-year-old Willie Watkins Jr., according to Harry Hobbs, a Huntsville Police spokesman.
Officers were called shortly after 2 p.m. to 3606 Ayers Drive, listed in phone directories as Pamplin's address, where they found Watkins with two gunshot wounds. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
Hobbs said it was unclear what the brothers were arguing about when the shooting occurred. Both men had guns and there were conflicting statements as to what led to the shooting.
Investigators spent the afternoon interviewing Pamplin and the brothers' mother, who is in her late 80s, in efforts to sort out what happened. Pamplin was charged with murder around 4:30 p.m.
Watkins was the second person slain in Huntsville in just under 48 hours.
Prinston Jovann Harkey, 20, was stabbed in the neck Friday afternoon after he allegedly broke into the Myrtlewood Drive apartment of Leticia Ann Maclin.
Maclin, 24, followed Harkey into the parking lot and stabbed him multiple times, Hobbs said. Harkey got into a car driven by an unidentified woman and fled the scene.
The woman drove him to the nearby Quizno's on University Drive for help, Hobbs said.
Maclin was charged with murder and booked into the Madison County jail that night.
