HUNTSVILLE, Al.
Alabama A&M police are still searching for suspects following a Saturday evening shooting that left one person with "non-life-threatening" injuries, university officials said.
The university announced tonight that it would hold a press conference on the shooting tomorrow morning.
"We are very disheartened to hear that one of our students was injured in a shooting incident at the Normal Hills apartments," stated Dr. Andrew Hugine, Jr. "We are pleased that the injury was not life threatening and the student is expected to make a complete recovery. The safety and security of our students remains a top priority. Our campus police, as well as the Huntsville Police Department, are working cooperatively in investigating this incident. We take any act of violence on or near our campus seriously, it will not be tolerated, and we have 'zero tolerance' for any deviation of university policy in matters of this sort. The university remains committed to providing a quality education for students and the health, safety, and security of all students, faculty, and staff."
The shooting reportedly took place around 10 p.m. Saturday in the Normal Hills Apartments next to the campus, according to a university news release. The university notified students of the shooting using the campus Bulldog Alert System.
The university said police are looking for four black males who were seen driving a large green sedan. Persons with information should contact the AAMU Police Department at (256) 372-5555.
The press conference will be at 10 a.m., in the conference room at Department of Public Safety on the university campus.
