Smiths Station man accused of shooting his brother in back, face

A Smiths Station man is charged with attempted murder after authorities found the suspect's brother shot multiple times at a residence in the 2700 block of Lee Road 250 on Feb. 11, according to the Lee County Sheriff's Office.

The release says Ronnie Charles Eller Jr., 31, was shot in his upper back as well as his face. The victim was taken to the Columbus Regional Medical Center for surgery. He is currently listed in critical but stable condition.

Investigators received reports stating the two brothers had been arguing over their deceased father's possessions and estate prior to the shooting.

The victim's girlfriend and a 2-year-old child were inside the home at the time of the shooting but were not harmed.

Mark Casey Eller, 26, was arrested and charged with one count of attempted murder and one count of shooting into an occupied dwelling with bond set at $75,000. Eller is being held at the Lee County Detention Facility.
