Chilton County Sheriff's Office investigates after body found in burning car

The Chilton County Sheriff's Office is investigating a car fire on Christmas Eve where a body was found inside the vehicle.

According to a report on the official Chilton County Sheriff's Office press release blog:

The Chilton County E911 Center received a call on a car fire Saturday in the 200 block of County Road 762. Chilton County Sheriff's Office deputies and East Chilton Fire & Rescue firefighters responded.

At 9:47 a.m., the first deputy arrived on the scene and found a four-door car on fire. Deputies and firefighters also found the body of a person whose race or gender couldn't immediately be determined inside the vehicle. The fire was quickly extinguished.

An investigation is under way and no other information was immediately available.
