A mobile home fire early Monday morning left a Smiths Station man dead, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
Ronnie Eller, 50, was the lone resident of the mobile home near Opelika Road in Smiths Station, where fire crews were dispatched shortly after 5 a.m. Monday. The fire destroyed the mobile home.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but the sheriff’s office said that candles were being used in the residence at the time.
