ATHENS, Al.
An Alabama state trooper has been indicted in connection with an accident that killed an Athens couple
The News Courier reports that 30-year-old James Heath Moss turned himself in on indictment warrants Sunday and immediately posted $10,000 bail. He faces two counts of criminally negligent homicide.
Moss was heading to another accident the morning of April 25 when he rear-ended the car in which 31-year-old Jamie Lee Gossett and his wife, 38-year-old Sarah Rene Gossett were riding. Their car was pushed into a field and caught fire. They had been on their way to pick up their daughters at school when the crash happened.
The lawyer who filed suit on behalf of the Gossett estate says Moss was driving faster than 120 mph just before the crash.
