Cherokee County woman charged with arson in mobile home fire

Cedar Bluff, Al.
A woman has been charged with arson after she allegedly set fire Monday to her mobile home that burned on Alabama Highway 9, Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver said.
Kathy Osborn, 42, Cedar Bluff, was arrested after an investigation into the fire, Shaver said. She was charged with second-degree arson.
The Cedar Bluff, Gaylesville and Centre fire departments responded about 5 p.m. Monday to the fire in the Farill community and quickly brought it under control.
While determining the cause of the fire, Cedar Bluff Fire Chief Shane Woodham discovered some suspicious burn patterns on the floor inside the residence, Shaver said.
Woodham and Sheriff’s Chief investigator Bo Jolly began the investigation. Sheriff’s office arson investigator Shawn Rogers and Deputy State Fire Marshal Ray Cumby continued the investigation and developed leads that led to Osborn’s arrest.
“I would like to thank the fire departments for their quick response and also the State Fire Marshal’s Office for their assistance in the investigation,” Shaver said.
A $5,000 bond was set for Osborn, who has been released from jail.
