Man wanted in Pennsylvania for rape, attempted murder arrested in Montgomery

MONTGOMERY, Al.
A man wanted in Pennsylvania on rape charges was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service at a Montgomery hotel today.
Paul McKenzie Jr.

The U.S. Marshals Office reports that Paul McKenzie Jr. was believed to have fled to the area after allegedly assaulting, raping and attempting to strangle a female in Pennsylvania earlier this month.

He was wanted by York, Pa. police on aggravated assault, rape and attempted murder charges.

Authorities from Pennsylvania believed that the rape suspect fled to Alabama with a female associate and contacted the Gulf Coast Regional Task Force with the information.

Investigators found McKenzie and the female in a hotel room in Montgomery where they were believed to be living. He was arrested on the scene and taken to the Montgomery County Detention Facility, where he now awaits extradition to Pennsylvania.

The female was released, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
