Patrol car strikes, injures robbery suspect minutes after holdup reported

MOBILE, Al.
CRIME.jpgA Mobile police patrol car struck and injured a robbery suspect near the scene of a reported store holdup Sunday night, Mobile police said.
The suspect, identified as Clifton Frazier, suffered abrasions to his knee, leg and foot after stepping in front of a patrol car going behind a building near the Family Dollar store at 4926 Moffett Road, police spokesman Cpl. Christopher Levy said.
Minutes earlier, at about 8:40 p.m., employees of the Family Dollar reported that a man armed with a handgun robbed the store, grabbed the cash drawer and fled behind the building, Levy said.
Frazier was treated for injuries at the University of South Alabama Medical Center, Levy said. He added that the man's injuries were not life threatening. Levy said that Frazier would be charged with 1st-degree robbery upon his release from the hospital.
