Trio held in connection with mass slaying in Birmingham; suspects include 2 teens

BIRMINGHAM, Al.
Two teenagers and a young adult are in custody today in connection with Sunday's pre-dawn slayings of five men in an Ensley home.
Birmingham police and U.S. Marshals took the men in custody in the Dolomite area Sunday evening.
Birmingham City Jail Records show the suspects are ages 17, 18 and 24. They were booked into the jail early today between 1 a.m. - 1:40 a.m.
They have not been formally charged with any crime, but jail records list the charges as capital murder. A press release from police said they have been interviewed by detectives and are being held as the investigation continues.
The trio is being questioned in the mass killing inside the home at 3113 Avenue S in Ensley Highlands. At least four of the five victims were shot execution-style, authorities said.
It was first reported to police as a robbery in progress but quickly became one of the city's worst homicides on record.
Police responding to the robbery call found the bodies inside the house. They were pronounced dead on the scene.
At least two people walked in on the scene, but ran and got away.
Authorities have not released the identification of the victims pending confirmation and notification of family members. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office said they may have those identifications later today.
