New Hope man arrested on child sex abuse charge

A man accused of touching his 5-year-old step-daughter in a sexual way was arrested Monday, a Morgan County sheriff's press release said.
David Leon Shell, 30, whose home town is listed as New Hope, was arrested on a charge of sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old. He is in Morgan County Jail with bond set at $100,000.
Morgan County sheriff's investigators began investigating after receiving a report of sexual abuse involving the girl, the press release said. The Alabama Department of Human Resources has been notified.
The sheriff's office will submit the case to the district attorney to review and request an indictment, according to the press release said.
