Elberta man pleads guilty to manslaughter

BAY MINETTE, Al.
An Baldwin County man has been sentenced to spend 15 years in prison for the death of an Elberta resident whose skeletal remains were recovered 5 years ago.
Kenneth E. Harrison
Kenneth E. Harrison, 33, of Elberta was facing a murder charge in the death of Sanford Lee Ledbetter by blunt-force trauma. Harrison pleaded guilty today in Baldwin County Circuit Court to an amended charge of manslaughter, according to court records.
Police said Ledbetter, 54, was last seen in Magnolia Springs in May 2005. His skeletal remains were found in January 2006 near the M&M Mud Bog arena between Foley and Elberta.
In sentencing Harrison, Supernumerary Circuit Judge Pamela Baschab gave him credit for time served in jail. His 15-year term will run concurrently with a 10-year sentence stemming from a previous theft case, court records show.
