Cottonwood woman charged with two counts of Fraudulent use of a Credit Card and Receiving Stolen Property

Dothan, Al.
Christy Awad, white female, 29 years of age, of Cottonwood, Alabama was arrested and charged with two counts of Fraudulent use of a Credit Card and Receiving Stolen Property with bonds totaling $30,000.
On November 2, 2011 the Dothan Police Department received a complaint which involved theft and fraudulent use of a credit card. The victim reported the crime to police and stated he had been out of town for some time and had allowed the suspect, Christy Awad, to stay in his home during his absence because she had nowhere to stay. Upon his return, he discovered a credit card and several pieces of jewelry missing. Investigators took over the case and signed warrants for Awads’ arrest after building a strong case against her. Investigators recovered the jewelry at local pawn shops which had receipts showing Awad as the seller. Investigators also collected video surveillance which showed Awad using the stolen credit card in various locations. Police arrested the suspect yesterday and will now close the case.
