On November7, 2011 the Dothan Police Department made a felony arrest following a recent investigation involving kidnapping, burglary and assault in what investigators are calling a domestically motivated crime. According to the report, David Potter forced entry into the home of an ex-girlfriend located in the 200 block of East Cottonwood Road on November 5, 2011. Once inside the residence, Potter held the victim at gun point over the course of several hours during which time he repeatedly assaulted and threatened to kill her. When the suspect finally left the residence, police were called to the scene immediately by the victim who had suffered many moderate injuries including facial injuries incurred when the victim was struck repeatedly with the suspects’ pistol. The case will now be closed following yesterday’s arrest.
