On November 9, 2011 Dothan Police Department narcotics officers responded to a tip regarding narcotics in a residence in the 2600 block of Flynn Road. The caller expressed concern, stating tenants were cooking methamphetamine with a five year old in the residence. Officers arrived at the house and made contact with Tracy McWaters. Officers checked the home for the child and did not find her but did see suspicious materials in plain view that led to a search warrant being obtained for the residence. A search was conducted and officers collected several items used in the production of methamphetamine. McWaters was taken into custody at the residence and officers were alerted to be on the lookout for the additional suspects, Sandra LeClair and Steven Rutledge.
A short time later, patrol officers located a vehicle believed to belong to Rutledge and LeClair at apartments on Honeysuckle Road. Officers conducted surveillance on the vehicle and watched as both subjects entered the vehicle and left the complex. Officers stopped and searched the vehicle and found chemicals used in the production of methamphetamine and several containers containing a residue of suspected methamphetamine. Rutledge and LeClair were taken into custody.
