Opelika police arrest teen for attempted murder

Tramarius Deangelo Bryant, 16, faces charges of attempted murder and shooting into an occupied building.
Bryant was taken into custody at the Opelika Police Department headquarters after officers contacted him, said OPD Capt. Bruce DeLong.
Bryant’s arrest stems from a shooting that took place Sunday at a residence in the 1000 block of Samford Court in which a 17-year-old victim reported hearing a gunshot and seeing the glass break at a back door of the residence before feeling a sharp pain in his pelvic region.
The 17-year-old was taken to the East Alabama Medical Center where he was initially listed in serious condition, but has since been upgraded to stable condition, DeLong said.
Bryant will be tried as an adult in this case, DeLong said.
“In the state of Alabama, if you’re 16 and commit a class A felony in which a weapon was involved, you can be adjudicated as an adult,” DeLong said. No weapon used in the shooting has been recovered.
Bryant was booked into the Lee County Detention Facility where he has since posted a $35,000 bond and been released, said Lee County Sheriff’s Office Chief Investigator Capt. Van Jackson
