Shelby County Sheriff’s Office searching for a missing teen

WILSONVILLE, Al.
Destiny Lynn Lawson
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a missing 15-year-old girl from Wilsonville.
Destiny Lynn Lawson, a 5-foot-3 white female, has been missing since Dec. 29, when she was last seen at her foster parents’ residence on Shelby County 56 in Wilsonville.
Investigators believe Lawson ran away and do not suspect foul play. Deputies have searched for her since she was reported missing and now are asking for the public’s help in finding her, according to a Shelby County Sheriff’s Office press release.

Lawson, who is brown-eyed with dark brown hair past her shoulder, weighs about 115 pounds. She was last seen wearing gym shorts and a T-shirt, but investigators believe she may have changed into blue jeans, a sweatshirt and a pair of brown Toms shoes decorated with circles.
On Jan. 12, Destiny Lawson’s biological mother, Dessie Lawson, a 37-year-old Columbiana resident, was arrested for interfering with custody. Dessie Lawson was released Jan. 13 after posting a $15,000 bond.
Anyone with information about Destiny Lawson is asked to contact the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office at 669-4181, through the Secret Witness Line at 669-9116 or through ShelbySO.com.
