Phenix City police name suspect wanted in City's first Homacide of the Year

PHENIX CITY, Al.
Phenix City police have issued an arrest warrant for Walter Robert Lee Patterson III, 25, of Smiths Station, in connection with a Saturday shooting that left one dead and another injured.

According to a statement from the Phenix City Police Department, the shooting happened Jan. 14 shortly before 2 a.m. in the parking lot of Car-Mart at 13th Street and the 280 bypass.
Terry Lamar Simmons, 52, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The body was sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science for an autopsy.
Richard Dean Prince, 61, also was found suffering from gunshot injuries and was taken to the Columbus Regional Medical Center where he was treated and admitted. As of 11:30 a.m., Prince was listed in unsatisfactory condition in the intensive care unit.
