Pedestrian hit, killed on Highway 431

Phenix City, AL 
A walk across the highway turned fatal for a man as he was struck by a moving vehicle.
 It happened near the intersection off Highway 431 South and 5th Street in Phenix City after 8 a.m. Friday morning.
Phenix City Police say a woman and two young children were traveling Southbound on Highway 431 in a Nissan Sentra when the car hit the man.
The victim went through the windshield of the car and landed in the woman's lap as she was driving.  She lost control of the wheel and traveled 400 yards before crashing into a tree.
At the time of impact, the car crossed into the median, then into the Northbound lanes and slammed into a tree between Childcare Network day care and Oasis Church International.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.  All three passengers were transported to the hospital for non life threatening injuries.
The name of the victim has not yet been released.
The accident is still under investigation.
