Power problem cancels several Bama Theatre events in Tuscaloosa

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama
A Tuscaloosa power outage involving a raccoon getting into the Alabama Power substation on Friday night means lights out for several Bama Theatre  events.

Theater manager David Allgood said the raccoon "dealt the death blow to our circa 1938 cloth-covered power lines," and repairs should take between three to four days.

Repairs will include pulling old lines out and running new ones in, Allgood said. Allgood said the Bama is scheduled to be up and running for the Miss Alabama High School and Collegiate Pageants on Sunday.

The following Bama Theatre events are cancelled:

  • Bama Art House film "Beginners" on Tuesday, Sept. 13.
  • Michael Martone's book launch for "4 for a Quarter" on Wednesday, Sept. 14
  • Acoustic Night with Tom Evanchuck and Lena Dice on Thursday, Sept. 15.

All cancelled events will be rescheduled at some point.
