Funeral for child hit while waiting on bus set for Saturday; fund seeks to help with costs

WETUMPKA, Al.
The funeral for Ethan Marshall Woods, the Wetumpka Elementary kindergartener struck and killed by a car Tuesday morning, is set for Saturday, officials said.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14 at Ellison Funeral Home at 8801 US Highway 231. The funeral will follow at the Ellison Funeral Home chapel, said owner Tim Ellison. The Rev. Randy Bush of New Home Baptist Church will be officiating.

New Home Baptist Church has created a fund to help cover the funeral expenses. Ethan regularly attended Awana club, a program for young children, at the church on Wednesday nights, a church representative said.

Donations toward funeral costs can be made to New Home Baptist Church, 1605 New Home Road, Titus, Ala., 36080. The church asks all gifts be in the form of checks or money order with "Ethan Woods" included in the memo line.

The boy, a resident of the Titus community, was struck by an SUV around 6:30 a.m. while waiting on the school bus at the intersection of Titus Road and Thornton Road.  Alabama state troopers continue their investigation of the accident, a spokesman said today.

For questions about the fund for donations, call church secretary Donna Stoner at 301-0617.
