Wetumpka kindergartner killed while waiting on bus

WETUMPKA, Al.
Ethan Marshall Woods, 5, from Titus was killed this morning around 6:30 a.m. after being struck by an SUV while waiting for his schoolbus, state troopers say.

The accident occurred on Titus Road at Thornton Road, where the kindergarten student at Wetumpka Elementary School was waiting for the bus.

The driver was not injured. Alabama state troopers are investigating and have taken a blood sample from the driver, which is standard in crashes involving serious injury or death, a statement from the Department of Public Safety says.

Once the investigation is complete, the case will be reviewed by the Elmore County district attorney and a grand jury, the statement says.

Additional information was not available at this time.
