Man arrested in Georgia in Alabama sexual torture case

GADSDEN, Alabama
Officials in Gadsden say a man wanted for sexual torture, sodomy and unlawful imprisonment of a 23-year-old mentally challenged woman has been captured in Georgia and has waived extradition to Alabama.
The Gadsden Times reports that Gadsden Police Capt. Regina May says 52-year-old Maurice Rex Johnson Jr. was arrested in Miller County, Ga., and was brought back to Gadsden on Thursday.
He's charged with sodomy, sexual torture and unlawful imprisonment.
Johnson's wife, 40-year-old Toni Renea Johnson, also is charged with sexual torture, unlawful imprisonment and sodomy. Police say an investigation showed the couple handcuffed the woman to the frame of a bed, sodomized her and tortured her.
Officers responded to a call Aug. 27 and found the woman naked and handcuffed to the bed.
