Trial delayed for man accused of threatening Obama

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP)
A federal magistrate judge has delayed the trial of an Uzbekistan man accused of threatening to kill President Barack Obama and illegally possessing an M15 machine gun.
Officials report that U.S. Magistrate Judge Harwell Davis delayed the trial of 21-year-old Ulugbek Kodirov until Nov. 7 because prosecutors need more time to translate 35 hours of recorded conversations between Kodirov and other witnesses.
Kodirov was arrested July 13 at a motel near Birmingham after prosecutors say he obtained the machine gun from an undercover agent. They also charged him with possessing an unregistered grenade and other weapons. U.S. Attorney Joyce White Vance said that Kodirov repeatedly threatened to kill the president.
He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
