A 17-year-old who was shot while sitting in a car in Prichard on Monday afternoon has died, according to Prichard police. Police Chief Jimmie Gardner identified the youth as Keonte McCants. He was shot shortly before 5 p.m. on Circle Drive, and was taken to the University of South Alabama Medical Center. He died about 2:30 p.m. today, Gardner said.
No arrests had been made in the case as of tonight.
Circle Drive is in the Gulf Village community just south of the city limit boundaries of Chickasaw and Prichard.
Prichard police are asking that anyone who knows anything about the shooting call 251-452-2211.
