Birmingham police have arrested and charged a mother in the death of her 1-year-old son, who died April 24.
The mother, 30-year-old Joanna McCay, was under the influence of narcotics at the time the child died in the bathtub, according to Birmingham Police spokesman Sgt. Johnny Williams Jr.
Police were called to 1365 Paragon Parkway to investigate a report of a deceased child. The child was taken to St. Vincent's Hospital East where he pronounced dead.
McCay is charged with reckless manslaughter and is in the Jefferson County Jail. Bond is set at $30,000.
