Alleged Dawson killer back to court in 2012

 Tallapoosa County, Al.
A Lafayette man charged with capital murder for the death of a pregnant Auburn woman will likely have his preliminary hearing early next year.
During the arraignment of Keith L. Ware, 30, of Lafayette, Tallapoosa District Court Judge Clayton K. Taylor said he would wait to set a preliminary hearing date until a court reporter was available, predicting the hearing would be in early 2012.
Ware’s court-appointed attorney Mark Allen Treadwell said he requested the preliminary hearing, during which the judge will decide whether to bind the case over to a grand jury. The Tallapoosa County District Attorney’s Office said the next grand jury session is scheduled for February.
Ware was arrested Nov. 1 in Opelika on capital murder charges in connection with the death of his alleged girlfriend, 31-year-old Cherri Dawson, whose remains were discovered in a wooded area near Camp Hill on Oct. 25. The Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences positively identified Dawson’s remains, and police say they believe Dawson died in Tallapoosa County.
Dawson, reportedly five months pregnant, had been missing since Oct. 8. Her fire-gutted car was discovered in Chambers County along County Road 95 on Oct. 9, prompting law enforcement to canvass the area.
Ware is being held without bond in Tallapoosa County jail.
