Birmingham's first homicide of 2012 suspect turns himself in

BIRMINGHAM, Al.
An 18-year-old Center Point man has been charged with murder in Birmingham's first homicide of 2012, Birmingham police announced today.
William Howard is being held on $75,000 bond in the Tuesday morning shooting death of 23-year-old Cordarius Hawthorne, Sgt. Johnny Williams said.
Hawthorne was shot at 648 Earline Circle about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday. He died two hours later at UAB Hospital.
A suspect in the shooting turned himself in to police about 11 a.m. Tuesday, police said.
Sgt. Sam Noblitt said the suspect and victim knew each other and that the shooting stemmed from a dispute between the two.
