Mobile police investigating string of weekend robberies

MOBILE, Al.
Mobile police continue to investigate robberies that occurred during the weekend, officials said today in a news release.
POLICE icon.jpgAbout 8:35 p.m. Sunday, a man armed with a shotgun entered the Chevron gas station in the 6800 block of Swedetown Road. He demanded money. The suspect was last seen leaving the scene on foot.
The robber is described as a white male about 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing about 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a bluish purple long sleeve shirt, dark pants and white tennis shoes. Police said his face and head was covered with a white T-shirt with eye holes cut out. He was also wearing a baseball style cap.
In a separate incident that occurred about 2 a.m. Sunday, two men armed with pistols entered Papa Johns Pizza in the 5200 block of Cottage Hill Road and demanded money. After receiving it, the robbers fled the scene in a white Mercury Grand Marquis.

The first robber is described as a black male with a dark complexion, 6 feet tall with a slim build, 23–25 years old. He was last seen wearing a black shirt, black jacket, black jeans, a black belt with a gray stripe and a black ski mask.

The second robber is described as a black male with a fair to medium complexion and a slim build, 20-25 years old. He was last seen wearing a black jacket with a gold snake or dragon on the back, black jeans, blue ski mask, green or ash wrist band.
In another incident that occurred about 9 p.m. Friday, the victim -- standing in his yard front yard on Angus Drive -- was approached by a man armed with a pistol. The gunman  demanded that the victim get into a vehicle. The assailants demanded money from the victim and they contacted the victim’s family and made ransom demands as well, police said. The assailants took money and a phone, and then drove to the cemetery at Holt Road where the victim was shot twice in his right leg, police said. The gunmen left the victim at Lafayette and Washington Place and a resident contacted police. Detectives do not believe this to have been a random act of violence, police said.
The first robber is described as a black male with a dark complexion, 5 feet 8 inches tall with a medium build, about 26-27 years old. He was last seen wearing a white shirt, black pants, goatee and a cap.
The second robber is described as a black male with a dark complexion in his late 20s with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a white shirt with purple stripes and a red jacket and a red and black baseball cap
The third robber -- believed to be the driver -- is described as a black male in his early 20s.
The vehicle is believed to be a dark blue 2005 Nissan Altima with tinted windows.
