Walker County fatal crash witnesses asked to come forward

The Walker County District Attorney’s Office is searching for anyone who might have information about a fatal crash that happened Tuesday afternoon on Alabama Highway 257.

Brianna Allred, a 6-year-old student from Curry Elementary, was killed in the accident.

Walker County District Attorney Bill Adair said his office would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed anything that could pertain to the accident from the crash site back to Highway 195 and Fall City Road.

“We know some calls have came into local dispatchers from people who may have seen things leading up to the crash,” Adair said. “We urge anyone who saw anything to call us.”

Possible witnesses should call 205-384-7272 and ask to speak to John Rowe, an investigator with the DA’s Office.

Rowe said he would like to speak to one possible witness who had contacted the Jasper Police Department with information about the accident.

“That person didn’t leave a name or contact information, and we’d really like to talk to them if possible,” he said.

Adair said the vehicles involved in the crash were a 1993 Geo Prizm and a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe.

Adam Allred, a 30-year-old Jasper resident, was driving the Prizm with Brianna Allred and her 4-year-old brother, Brandon Allred, in the car. Walker County Coroner J.C. Poe said the car driven by Allred was traveling in the northbound lane of Highway 257 when it ran off the road shortly before 5 p.m., about five miles north of Jasper. Poe said it then cross the path of the southbound lane and was struck by the Tahoe.

Adair said investigating fatal wrecks is common for his office.

“We are investigating the death of this child,” he said. “We hope there are people out there in the community that can help us with this investigation.”
