Gov. Robert Bentley and Gov. Bobby Jindal place bets on LSU-Alabama game

MOBILE, Al.
Gov. Robert Bentley and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal have a friendly wager riding on the outcome of Saturday’s much-balleyhooed matchup between top-ranked LSU and the second-ranked University of Alabama.
Bentley, a Tuscaloosa native and UA graduate, is betting a mammoth sandwich at Rama Jama’s - a favorite hometown restaurant - against Jindal’s offer of a Louisiana seafood dinner.
Bentley said that “in the unlikely event that Alabama loses” he would treat Jindal on his next visit to Alabama to a belt-busting sandwich known as the 13 National Championships BLT. The sandwich features 13 strips bacon - one for each of the Crimson Tide’s national championships.
A spokeswoman for Bentley said the first-term Republican appreciated Jindal’s offer of Louisiana seafood, noting that it was second only to Alabama seafood in taste and quality.
“Governor Bentley looks forward to enjoying a great game between the two outstanding teams, and good Louisiana seafood,” said Jennifer Ardis, a spokeswoman for the governor’s office.
Jindal, who won a landslide victory Oct. 22 in his bid for re-election to a second term, did a little trash-talking prior to Saturday’s college football showdown.
“He (Bentley) is a nice man and a good friend,“ Jindal said at a news conference last week in Baton Rouge, as reported by the Times-Picayune newspaper of New Orleans. “But we expect to beat them and treat them badly. We will not be gracious guests.“
It’s the first such bet for Bentley, an ardent Tide fan who held his election-night victory party in Bryant-Denny Stadium last year.
Jindal won a bet with Florida Gov. Rick Scott last month after the Tigers dominated the University of Florida Gators. Jindal said he received key lime pie for the Tigers’ victory, and shared half of it with LSU Coach Les Miles.
“We sent them seafood anyhow” even for losing the bet, Jindal told the Times-Picayune.
