North Alabama truck driver convicted of sexually abusing stepdaughter on cross-country drive

NEOSHO, Mo.
A truck driver from northern Alabama has been convicted of sexually abusing his 12-year-old stepdaughter while on a cross-country trip with him.
A Newton County jury on Wednesday deliberated 22 minutes before convicting 50-year-old Delbert F. Glover of Hatton, Alabama, of three counts of statutory sodomy.
The girl, now 13, testified that she was abused more than once while on a trip with Glover in 2010 but the trial concerned only acts that occurred in June at a Joplin truck stop.
Police were called after the girl ran into the truck stop wearing only a T-shirt and asked for help.
Glover's attorney argued that the girl exaggerated because Glover and her mother were not getting along and she wanted him to go away.
Glover will be sentenced Dec. 19.
