Residents asked to line route to honor slain Marine as he is returned to Wiregrass

DOTHAN, Al.
The family of Lance Cpl. Jason Barfield is asking residents of his hometown to show their support when his body returned home.

 His family is asking residents to honor him by lining the roads along the route from the airport to the funeral home where his remains will be taken.
Barfield’s body will arrive at the Dothan Regional Airport on Tuesday, Nov. 1, at 11 a.m. and will be taken to Southern Heritage Funeral Home on Hodgesville Road. Wiregrass residents interested in honoring Barfield are being asked to line the route from the airport to the funeral home, armed with American flags and signs.
The body will be received by military detail at the airport, then transported to the funeral home along the following route: It will leave the airport on Napier Field Road to Highway 231. It will then travel south on Highway 231 to the Ross Clark Circle. It will then proceed right on Ross Clark Circle to Hodgesville Road before arriving at the funeral home. Local law enforcement will assist in transport and route control.
