BIRMINGHAM, Al.
Four people were arrested on prostitution charges today at a Birmingham spa, police announced.
Sgt. Johnny Williams of the Birmingham Police Department said one arrest was on a charge of operating a house of prostitution. Three other arrests were made on charges residing in a house of prostitution.
The arrests were made just after noon at the Super Sauna Spa at 9019 Parkway East. The arrests were "a result of a long-term investigation," Williams said in a news release.
The department is also working with U.S. Immigration Customs Enforcement to determine the immigration status of the females at the spa and assisting with "any human trafficking issues that may arise," Williams said.
The names of the suspects were not immediately released.
