Mobile authorities arrest several on drug charges

Mobile authorities have made several drug arrests recently, including confiscating several pounds of marijuana, officials said today in a news release.
About 7 p.m. Monday, the police department's Narcotics and Vice Unit arrested Carlos Peterson at Spring Hill Avenue at Interstate 65. Police say Peterson was found with 10 pounds of marijuana -- an estimated street value of $8,000 -- and a stolen pistol.
That led authorities to the 600 block of Tarawa Drive where police found and confiscated more illegal narcotics, electronics and vehicles:
  • 14 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $12,000
  • 48 ounces of cocaine with an estimated street value of $45,000
  • Two laptop computers valued at $800
  • Four vehicles with an total estimated value of $54,000
Peterson was charged with trafficking cocaine, trafficking marijuana, a certain person forbidden possession of a pistol, and second-degree receiving stolen property. He remains in Mobile County Metro Jail, records show.
On Dec. 9, the Mobile County Street Enforcement Narcotics Team -- with two search warrants -- went to the 4500 block of Schimpfs Lane and the 4700 block of Pecan Ridge East and arrested four people on various drug charges.
  • Brandon Sharpe, 19, of Mobile, is charged three counts of distribution of a controlled substance and trafficking cocaine.
  • Phillip Yopp, 21, of Mobile, is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Morgan Johnson, 19, of Grand Bay, is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Eric Boucher, 20, of Mobile, is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police seized three ounces (84 grams) of powder cocaine with an estimated street value of $8,400, 5 grams of Hydroponic marijuana, a .22 caliber Rifle, and a 2003 Infinity G35.
Police also arrested two others in the 6500 block of Old Shell Road: Patrick Roehrig, 22, of Mobile, and charged him with second-degree marijuana possession and trafficking cocaine and Daskie Pettway, 30, of Mobile, and charged him with trafficking cocaine. Authorities seized four ounces (112 grams) of powder cocaine with an estimated street value of $11,200.00 and a 2005 Dodge Magnum.
