Phenix City man charged with assault in pedestrian's injury

A Phenix City man is facing assault charges in connection with a Saturday incident in which a pedestrian was struck by a car.
Police say 34-year-old Cedric Wise was driving a 1994 gold Acura Legend when he struck 23-year-old Cordarrion Evans on Brickyard Road.
The incident happened around 11 p.m. Wise was arrested, taken to the Russell County Jail and charged with assault.
Evans was taken to the Columbus Regional Medical Center before being airlifted to the Augusta Burn Center for a leg injury. He is listed in critical condition.
